Itchy
I have this incredible itch. It nags me as I work. I grinds at me as I lay dreaming. It pummels me (yeah, a little dramatic but I like dramatic words) while I sit on the couch watching tv. It’s not your regular itch that you’d visit the doctor (perhaps with shame and remorse in your heart) but it’s the itch to do more.
As I was walking from our neighborhood street fair today I got to thinking about what I’ve done in the time between when I graduated from college and my walk home. Here are a few things I realized: 1) I graduated from college 7 years ago; 2) Crap I graduated from college 7 years ago!; 3) I’ve had 7 different jobs at 4 different companies since I graduated from college; 4) I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up; 5) Just because I’m 30 doesn’t mean I’m grown up; 6) I haven’t taken a picture in almost a year.
In that same walk I had these additional realizations: 1) I’m so happy I’m not an undergrad anymore (but I miss walking to the dining hall in my pj’s); 2) I’m way more awesome then I was 7 years ago; 3) I kicked (and am still kicking) butt in all of the jobs I’ve had (and still have); 4) I’m ok not knowing what I want to be when I grow up; 5) Every so often I feel like a grown up like when I’m writing a check to the IRS; 6) I should take a picture or two sometime soon.
Oh and I realized I like when the sun comes out in the Summer. As opposed to the cloudy August the Bay Area has had so far. WTH.
